When buying mountain land – most buyers
would agree that price is a major factor in the final decision. If
you’ve been looking for land during the past year, you’ve
probably noticed that prices are rising.
Our North Carolina mountains have always been
one of the “last best places” to relax and enjoy stress-free
living. Over the past year, many new residents have
chosen that lifestyle by moving to the mountains permanently. Demand
for large tracts has also increased substantially over that period.
Because there is always a limited supply of large
parcels available for purchase, the demand last year put increasing
pressure on property prices. As a result, per acre prices
have risen. When you compare prices in the “northern” mountains

and a half hour driving distance of all major North Carolina cities, As
a result, it is mostly North Carolina families who make large land

are up, the nature of local growth here in the mountains

and relaxing places to live in the Mid-Atlantic states.
So, what about prices? They vary widely. Prices
per acre range from about $2,800 per acre up to over $10,000 per
acre, with many in the $4,000-5,000/acre range. If
