"Get off the Rollercoaster!"

When the stock market tanked in the spring of 2000, many investors cashed out to protect the bulk of their capital.  After watching it earn precious little in a savings account for about 6-12 months, they realized that the safest, and potentially most profitable destination for their investment money was land – raw mountain land.

Traditionally land values have gone up steadily.  Land is always marketable – it can always be sold for its fair market value.  Land provides not only great profit potential, but also offers security, recreation, and the potential for income production.

In short, if you’re once again frustrated and perplexed about losses in the stock market, don’t waste another minute trying to find a profitable investment opportunity.  The North Carolina mountains offer many such opportunities – from bargain priced properties to value-rich parcels with excellent growth potential.

On March 1st, the stock price of respectable and venerable investment bank Bear Stearns was in the $90 range.  On Friday, March 14th it opened at $54.24.  Over the weekend, unbeknownst to you, J.P. Morgan agreed to buy Bear Stearns for $2 per share.  On Monday morning, March 17th, it dropped to $2.84.  In other words, if you owned 1,000 shares on Friday, it was worth $54,240, but on Monday it dropped as low as $2,840.  As you can quickly see, the instability of the financial markets can wreak havoc on even the most revered companies.
